Dr. Heather Toyne was raised in Oklahoma and earned her DVM from Oklahoma State University in 2010 but is proud to call Colorado her adopted home. After graduating, she completed an optional one-year internship at Southern Arizona Veterinary and Specialty Center. This provided her with invaluable experience in managing emergencies, as well as insight into ophthalmology, dermatology, and internal medicine.
Her 3 years at Parker Center Animal Clinic as a welcomed family member have flown by. Getting to know the clients who share our values that pets are an important part of our families has been extremely rewarding for her. She also enjoys surgery, feline-friendly medicine and care, and helping with behavioral issues that might affect a family’s relationship with their pet. She also enjoys seeing exotic and pocket pets.
In her spare time, Heather enjoys gardening, rock climbing, hiking and backpacking with her wonderful husband, Casey. With her pair of Australian cattle dogs, she enjoys practicing positive reinforcement training techniques. Her cat, Babydoll has been her companion since Heather was a teenager and gives her an important perspective on the special bond that forms between a person their “fur kid” long term. She also enjoys keeping an entertaining pair of zebra finches, Bart and Albert.
